At the Cabinet meeting on 22nd October 2025, Leader of the Council announced the grants as follows:

Oswaldtwistle Immanuel Cricket Club were awarded £1,000 to expand their cricket training facilities including a new mobile batting cage.

Friends of Haworth Art Gallery were awarded £760 for a conservation and art related project.

Globe Bullough Park FC were awarded £1600 to provide new winter kit for their adult team and a full new kit for the under 12s junior team.

Friends of Rhyddings Park were awarded £1200 to help with the delivery of inclusive craft and community meal sessions.

The Hyndburn Comets Majorettes were awarded £1250 towards the cost of new uniforms, transport to events and other equipment.

At the meeting, Cllr Munsif Dad, Leader of the Council said:

We are proud to support five new organisations with grants through the Cabinet Action Fund. Small grants can go a long way to supporting community groups to provide vital services across Hyndburn.”

Cllr Kimberley Whitehead, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Sport recently began a campaign to encourage grassroots sports clubs to apply for funding via the Cabinet Action Fund. She said:

“I’m so pleased that the Council has awarded funding to three more grassroots sports clubs, helping them continue the great work they do across Hyndburn. If your club hasn’t applied yet, I’d really encourage you to reach out. We’re proud to stand behind the amazing efforts happening at the grassroots level. We’ve now provided grants to 14 grassroots clubs and we look forward to supporting more.”

Wayne Roberts, Adult Team Manager at Globe Bullough Park FC said:

As manager of the Globe FC adult squads, which have been running for over 40 years, it’s amazing to see our numbers grow. We now have over 75 active players aged 16 to 40. Staying fit helps both body and mind, and we’re proud to support that.

After asking for help on social media to fund new winter coats, Councillor Whitehead reached out and told us about the Cabinet Action Fund. Thanks to that support, we were able to provide jackets for 30 adult players and even fund a full kit for our new under-12s team.

The logo on the kit and jackets says it all. We’re looking forward to working with Hyndburn Borough Council again — Councillor Whitehead truly backs what grassroots volunteers are trying to achieve.”

The Cabinet Action Fund, announced earlier this year, is a budget dedicated to addressing community needs and supporting local service providers. This fund is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to help local organisations who provide support for Hyndburn residents.
