Four More Local Organisations To Receive Council Grants

Hyndburn Borough Council has awarded four more Cabinet Action Fund grants to local organisations that provide a range of services to the residents of Hyndburn.

The fund was introduced in 2025 and aims to support community projects and local organisations who provide valued local services.

The following organisations have been awarded grants:

Enfield Cricket Club: £1,500 to support the costs associated with bringing young people into cricket.

Hyndburn Food Pantry: £5,000 towards the cost of a new freezer and contribution towards food stock for the pantry, which provides low-cost food to those in need.

Active Lancashire Cycles: £2,000 to support the organisation’s volunteers who repair and maintain cycles and to lead group cycle rides, encouraging more people in Hyndburn young and old to take up cycling. Active Cycles provides low-cost bikes and is located in the Arndale Centre, Accrington.

Oswaldtwistle Library Friends: £1000 to put on activities to increase social opportunities for isolated parents and improve baby development skills.

Adrian Leather, Chief Executive of Active Lancashire said:

“We welcome this Council grant and will put it to excellent use. Our volunteers receive and fix hundreds of bikes before selling them on at very low cost, enabling access to bikes for those who otherwise may find it unaffordable. £2000 will provide more volunteer training, allowing us to get more bikes in to good hands and back on the road.”

Councillor Munsif Dad, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:

“I’m happy to announce these new grants. There are some fantastic organisations on the list who I am pleased to be able to support.

The Cabinet Action Fund is all about supporting local initiatives that make a real difference to our residents. Small grants can go a long way for community groups and small organisations.

We have seen many unique applications to the fund. I was really interested to read the plans from Active Cycles, which is a great asset to have in Accrington Town Centre.”

The Cabinet Action Fund, announced earlier this year, is a budget dedicated to addressing community needs and supporting local service providers. This fund is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to help local organisations who provide support for Hyndburn residents.
