Haworth Art Gallery Welcomes All to Heritage Open Day
Haworth Art Gallery is delighted to announce its participation in this year’s Heritage Open Day, themed “Routes, Networks and Connections.” On Sunday, 15th September, from 12 noon to 4 pm, the gallery will open its doors to the community for a day filled with engaging activities, workshops, guided tours, and much more. Entry is free, and no tickets are required.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore why Haworth Art Gallery has been a cherished part of the community for over 100 years. The gallery’s connections stretch from Hyndburn to the far corners of the world, and this event will highlight these fascinating links through guided tours of the house, collections, Artists Studios, and grounds, led by knowledgeable staff and volunteers.
One of the highlights includes discovering Tiffany’s fascination with archaeological glass and the advancements in chemistry that led to the remarkable iridescent effect, tracing a journey from Cyprus to New York. Additionally, guests can meet Mr. Beach, the coachman, who will provide a tour of the Motor House and Stables, now home to a vibrant group of artists and artisans.

Families are encouraged to join in the fun with a variety of workshops and activities. Play traditional games with the Friends of Haworth Art Gallery, create imaginative puppet stories, and enjoy making giant bubbles on the front lawn. Other exciting activities include:
- Free family crafts inspired by Tiffany glass
- Free ukulele workshops
- Heritage games and a tombola
- Artist’s studios open for browsing
- Tours and talks throughout the day
- Exploring the gallery
- Delicious food and drinks available at the Gallery Kitchen
