Hyndburn Borough Council announces two new play area refurbishments
Hyndburn Borough Council is pleased to announce continued investment in the borough’s parks and open spaces, with two play area refurbishments planned this autumn, funded through the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund, with additional funding made available by Hyndburn Borough Council.

The first refurbishment is planned for Windsor Road Recreation Ground in Great Harwood, close to the town centre. Work is due to start in September and will replace the old play equipment with vibrant new facilities for local families and visitors to enjoy.
The new play area will combine traditional favourites such as swings and slides with modern play equipment, including a large rope swing that can be enjoyed by several children at once. Interactive play elements referencing the nearby fire station will spark children’s imaginations, offering a safe, clean environment where they can play, learn, and make lasting friendships.
The second refurbishment will replace the existing playground at Harwood Road Recreation Ground in Rishton with new, modern facilities. The play area will feature classic elements such as swings and slides alongside a large block-climbing feature and inclusive play equipment designed to cater for all abilities and ages.

Work is expected to take place during autumn and the Council looks forward to welcoming local children to both play areas once complete.
