Hyndburn Council begins recruitment for new Town Centre Venue Manager

Hyndburn Borough Council is recruiting a Town Centre Venue Manager to run two of Accrington’s landmark buildings, the historic Accrington Market and Town Hall.

The appointment will see the successful candidate developing both Grade II listed venues as vibrant hubs of cultural activity, retail, food and beverage, and entertainment that drive footfall and support the wider local economy.

With Accrington Market set to reopen its doors in November 2026 following significant investment, and the Town Hall returning to Council management as Hyndburn Leisure’s contract ends in 2027, the role represents a rare opportunity to shape the future of two landmark buildings at a pivotal moment in Accrington’s regeneration.

Cllr Clare Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Transformation and Town Centres said:

“This is a really exciting appointment for Accrington. We’re looking for someone with vision, energy and the commercial and creative skills to make these buildings reach their potential. Accrington Market has been at the heart of our town for generations, and the Town Hall is a stunning building with huge potential.

With the right leadership, these venues can be catalysts for the wider town centre – driving footfall, supporting local businesses, and creating the kind of vibrant cultural and social offer that makes people proud of their town.”

The role will involve managing teams across both buildings, developing innovative programming, and working with traders and partners to strategically develop both venues.  The successful candidate will have substantial venue, events or hospitality management experience with proven commercial results, combined with strategic thinking and genuine community values, driving income growth while maintaining community focus throughout operations.

Accrington Market forms part of the wider Town Square regeneration. The investment includes major improvements to the building fabric and layout to ensure the historic venue is fit for the future.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 7th April 2026.
