Hyndburn Council Cabinet Action Fund to Support Five Successful Heritage and Community Projects across the Borough
Community and heritage organisations across Hyndburn are set to benefit from the latest round of Cabinet Action Fund grants, with funding awarded to projects that preserve local heritage, strengthen community groups and improve opportunities for residents across the borough.
AAWAZ has been awarded £1,000 to continue providing vital support for South Asian women experiencing isolation, anxiety and poor wellbeing through activities including sewing, arts and crafts, storytelling and social sessions.

Accrington Community Events will receive £1,500 to purchase branded gazebos, enabling the organisation to expand its programme of outdoor community events, including Accrington and Oswaldtwistle Carnival.
Accrington Heritage Trust has been awarded £3,996 to support its heritage bus education project, helping bring local history to life for thousands of primary school pupils through interactive learning experiences centred around the restored 1975 Leyland Leopard bus.
Town and District Transport Trust Ltd will receive £6,800 to repaint its iconic open-top community bus in Accrington red with new borough branding, ensuring it can continue supporting community events and civic celebrations across Hyndburn.
Altham Parish Council has been awarded £4,200 to repair the historic Moorfield Colliery Memorial wall, preserving an important local landmark that commemorates those affected by the 1883 pit explosion and continues to serve as a focal point for remembrance and community events.
Zulekha Dala of AAWAZ, said:
“We really appreciate the support from Hyndburn Borough Council for our charitable work. The CAF grant is helping Aawaz Charity provide additional support to our service users through informal activities such as the ‘Sewing Friends Group’, where women can come together to learn new skills, make friends, and feel supported.”

The Cabinet Action Fund is a budget dedicated to addressing community needs and supporting local service providers. This fund is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to help local organisations who provide support for Hyndburn residents.
