New Pump Track on the way in Great Harwood This Summer
New Pump Track on the way in Great Harwood This Summer
Great Harwood is set to welcome a new pump track sports facility this summer. This exciting new facility will be designed and built by Clark and Kent, a professional pump track company renowned for their work on the London 2012 Olympics BMX track.

Work is due to begin in early June and is scheduled to be completed and open to the public by the end of June.
The pump track will cater to people of all abilities, offering a space for skill progression on a purpose-built circular track designed for cycling and wheeled sports activities. It will replace the former skatepark at the Game Street car park location, which was popular but removed at the end of its serviceable life. Located next to an existing multi-use games area, the project will improve the local play offer.

The new facility is being funded in partnership led by Hyndburn Borough Council, with support from the UK High Street Accelerators Fund and Lancashire County Council. This investment aims to improve key areas around Great Harwood town centre, making it more attractive and enjoyable for both local people and visitors.
Councillor Jodi Clements, Netherton Ward Councillor said:
“We are thrilled to bring this fantastic new facility to Great Harwood. The pump track will provide a safe space for young people to develop their skills, promote physical activity, and create a sense of community. We know youth activities have been a priority for many of our Great Harwood residents. This is a fantastic addition to the current Great Harwood Town Centre greening projects which are currently underway.”
Martin Proffitt, Director, Proffitts C.I.C. added:
“Through public consultation earlier this year, the community expressed interest in a pump track. The planned facility will provide a safe space for young people to engage in physical activity and practice their cycling skills.”
