Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre Update

The contract for the reroofing and associated works at Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre is now out to tender. This latest round of works will involve reroofing and repairs to the roof of the building including rainwater goods, scaffolding and other specified works.

Earlier this year, the Council committed £500,000 from its capital programme to support the theatre’s restoration. In addition, Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre was selected as one of ten recipients of funding through the Theatres Trust’s Resilient Theatres: Resilient Communities programme. A grant of £10,000 was awarded to carry out essential roof survey work—identified as the first priority in safeguarding the building.

The roof survey has been completed, and the Council is now seeking a contractor to complete the required roof works.

Councillor Munsif Dad, Leader of the Council said:

“I am pleased that we are progressing to this next stage at Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre. As per our procurement rules, the contract is out to open tender on the Government’s Find A Tender website. I’d encourage local contractors with the experience and expertise to help restore this building to consider responding to the tender process.”

Councillor Kimberley Whitehead, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Arts, added:

There is passionate local support all round for this building, and we share the community’s desire to see it once again host theatre, arts and cultural events. This next step is significant progress in the timeline of works at the site and one we are all keen to get underway.”

Tenders for the works must be submitted by 2pm on 13th October. For more information on the tender process, please head to: https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk
