Supplementary Planning Documents and Guidance (SPDs and SPGs)
Information about SPDs in Hyndburn
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) add detail to policies laid out in Development Plan Documents (DPDs), or a saved policy in an existing development plan. SPDs are therefore intended to expand on how the Council’s planning policies can be taken forward.
Local Authorities are required to involve the community in the preparation of SPDs, as detailed in the Council’s Statement of Community Involvement. Within Hyndburn, ‘saved’ SPDs are:
- Church and Oswaldtwistle (Adopted December 2006)
- Householder Design Guide (Adopted September 2009)
A number of former SPDs have now been revoked or withdrawn because they are out of date, development is wholly or largely complete or the development is no longer being progressed as envisaged. A formal statement sets out details of the former SPDs which are now revoked or withdrawn.
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPGs)
The following Supplementary Planning Guidance documents have been adopted by the Council. The documents will form a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.
- Children’s residential and support accomodation SPG (Adopted June 2025)
- Residential Conversion and HMO SPG (adopted June 2025)
