Meet the Mayor of Hyndburn
Councillor Noordad Aziz was elected as Mayor of Hyndburn for the Municipal Year 2026/27 at the Council’s AGM on Thursday 28th May 2026.
Councillor Aziz has served as a Borough Councillor in the Netherton Ward of Great Harwood for 14 years. He takes great pleasure in serving the people of Great Harwood, his hometown, and working with them to resolve any issues that they have.
During his year in office the Mayor has chosen four charities to support: Derian House Children’s Hospice, Milly’s Smiles, Laurie Solomon Kidney Dialysis Centre and East Lancashire Hospice.
In his professional career Councillor Aziz is a Chartered Accountant. He is a father of two and in his spare time he is a keen walker and an avid supporter of Accrington Stanley and Blackburn Rovers.
The Mayor will be supported in his Mayoral year by his Mayoresses, his wife; Saddia Hussain, his Mother; Hamida Begum and Consorts; Judith Addison, Jodi Clements, Kimberley Whitehead and Clare Yates.
