Freedom of Information Requests
What is a Freedom of Information request?
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides members of the public the right to request recorded information from public authorities, subject to exemptions. The council then has 20 working days to respond to your request, providing it does not takes over the appropriate limit of 18 hours to produce. In this instance, the Council is not obliged to release the information. If it does decide to release it, there will be a charge of £25 per hour.
If the information you request is environmental information then the request will be dealt with under the Environmental Information Regulations Act 2004.
In order to streamline the process, the council primarily receives FOI requests via an online form.
Before filling out the form, please check the following:
- The subject matter you are requesting falls in the responsibility of Hyndburn Borough Council (HBC). HBC do not hold information on health, social care, education, housing or leisure.
