Review of existing awards of Housing Benefit for Specified Supported Accommodation

The Council is reviewing existing awards of Housing Benefit for Specified Supported Accommodation.

The outcome of this review work may result in –

  • awards being suspended or ultimately terminated where requested information is not provided within stated timescales; or
  • an overpayment of Housing Benefit that is recoverable by the Council where the Council finds that information and evidence previously presented to the Council is found to have been misrepresented or a change of circumstances has not been reported to the Council.

Where misrepresentation is found, and fraud is suspected, the case will be passed to the Department for Work and Pensions, Single Fraud Investigation Service for them to carry out an investigation of potential fraud.
