Meet the Mayor of Hyndburn


Councillor Mrs Kathleen Pratt was elected as Mayor of Hyndburn for the Municipal Year 2021/22 at the Council’s AGM on Thursday 20 May 2021.

Councillor Pratt has served as a Borough Councillor in the Baxenden Ward for 14 years. She takes great pleasure in serving as a Councillor here with issues that can be both rural and urban. The Mayor is also a member of the Planning Committee and Standards Committee.

During her year in office the Mayor has chosen four charities to support: RNLI, Pioneer Swimming Club, Rosemere Cancer Foundation and will also choose a local mental health charity.

Councillor Pratt is treasurer of the RNLI Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Branch, where she recently received a silver cross for long service to the charity having volunteered there for over 25 years. She is also a Coach and Trustee at Pioneer Swimming Club and enjoys dancing – particularly ballet, tap and modern jazz, sewing, gardening and reading in her spare time.

The Mayor has been married to her husband, Barrie, for 51 years and has a daughter, two sons and four grandchildren.

She will be supported in her Mayoral year by her husband, Mr Barrie Pratt, who will act as her Consort and also her fellow Councillor, Judith Addison, who will be her Mayoress.
