Meet the Mayor of Hyndburn
**Coronavirus – The Mayor regrets that due to the need to protect public health, Members of the Civic Team will be unable to attend any engagement until further notice.**
Welcome to Hyndburn’s new Mayor, Cllr June Harrison, whose Mayor Making Ceremony took place last Saturday, 25 May, at Accrington Town Hall.
Cllr Harrison, a Barnfield ward Councillor for the past eight years, moved to Accrington from Burnley fifty two years ago when she married her husband Chris.
Cllr Harrison said; “I’m so proud to be able to serve the Borough as Mayor and will give it my all during this special year.”
Her Mayoress will be Cllr Joyce Plummer, a close friend of many years, and neighbouring Peel ward Councillor.
She plans to carry on her outdoor theme with her fundraising plans, which include garden parties and barbecues, raising lots of money for her four chosen Mayoral charities, Play4Uz2, a charity raising money for a dedicated Specialist Inclusive Play Area that caters for a broader range of children of all abilities, Derian House Children’s Hospice, the North West Air Ambulance and the Hyndburn branch of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Councillor Harrison is looking forward to the coming year and plans to attend as many events as possible, learn more about the businesses and organisations within the Borough, and raise lots of money for her chosen charities.
