Climate Action
Brookside can help people to take positive action on climate change, with inspirational projects to address carbon emissions, flooding, heatwaves, wildfires and droughts.
Here are a few of the things that have been happening:
- assessing potential flood risk and designing natural flood management measures
- selecting suitable tree species which will be more resilient to future climatic conditions
- measuring carbon capture in trees, habitats and soils
- delivering ‘Climate Action and Me’ workshop events.

There have been lots of ideas and suggestions for what can be done next including:
- more Climate based community workshops to help people understand what they can do to help address the climate emergency
- promoting Brookside as a ‘beacon of biodiversity’
- creating a ‘Climate Sanctuary’ – a shady, cool place to escape from heatwaves
- hosting green demonstration projects to inspire others.
