Climate Action
Brookside will be a living example of how community-led action can address the climate emergency in ways that are easy, attractive, and achievable. Through activities on and off-site, the project will connect people with nature, demonstrate practical solutions to climate change, and empower residents to take action in their daily lives.
Brookside will serve as a Climate Resilience Hub, supporting a comprehensive climate learning programme as part of the Brookside delivery phase.
What now?
- Using nature-based solutions (NBs) at Brookside to combat climate change, improve biodiversity, and increase flood resilience
- Climate-positive woodland and grassland management to increase carbon sequestration
- Creation of a Climate Resilience Hub, where local people can learn about climate change through workshops, events, and hands-on learning experiences
- Development curriculum-linked activity sessions, co-designed with teachers for delivery in schools and youth groups
