Learning and Education

There’s a buzz around Brookside with citizen science days, guided walks, climate talks, school events, and more.
People are learning new skills and finding out about nature and climate change.

So what has been happening?

  • Citizen Science days with expert leaders
  • 420 school children have enjoyed activities
  • bushcraft and green-woodworking activities
  • 6 schools and many other local groups involved
A group of school children stand around a large table holding water and sand.

Finding out about river channels and how they can shape the landscape.

In the future we’d like to develop:

  • a Forest School area or ‘Nature Classroom’
  • run courses in practical skills such as hedgelaying and drystone walling
  • offer research and work experience opportunities
  • host climate action talks with inspirational speakers
