Peel Park and the Coppice

Awarded a Green Flag for 2024-2025

The formal area of Peel Park consists of a children’s play area, multi-use games area, tennis courts, a bowling green and a car park and is located at the top of Avenue Parade with views towards Accrington. The formal area is also next to the largest Local Nature Reserve in Lancashire. The reserve is accessible to most abilities despite its elevated position, due to a network of woodland paths which lead the visitor to the summit.

Visitors reaching the summit, known locally as ‘The Coppice’ will be rewarded with magnificent views across the town of Accrington and beyond. It is said it is possible to see Blackpool Tower on a clear day from the top! You will also have a network of paths available to you to explore and there is no better place to blow the cobwebs away than amongst the heathland on the summit!

Once you have got your breath back from the climb to the top and taken in the far-reaching views, why not explore some of the areas hidden past that lies within this varied landscape.

If you would like to get more involved in your local park further details are here.
